Mushrooms — A Photographic Study

Admission time, I LOVE mushrooms. I love to eat them, I love to look at them, I just love them. I wish I was more adept and knowledgeable so I could forage too, but I'm not quite there yet.  In the meantime, I'll settle for eating and picture taking instead.  All of these mushrooms were at the park my husband and I went camping at.  This little guy was my favorite subject. The thing that looks like a bug clinging on is actually just sticks that were arranged just so. It made for a very good picture though. I was…

Bronx Zoo: Jungle World Langurs Pt. 1

I told you, you would be in for more photos from the Bronx Zoo! Besides the Gorillas, I love going to see the Jungle World Langurs. They are my favorite in that whole exhibit! These were taken with my old Canon, not the new DSLR. Still really good pictures I think, but I can't wait until all the exhibits at the Bronx Zoo open again.  I love this photo. He almost looks like he's getting ready to smile.  This one is the product of patiently waiting in the exhibit for a half an hour, as other visitors pass take a…

Camping Staycation Weekend

We were supposed to use our vacation to go to California to visit friends, but due to the COVID travel advisories we unfortunately had to cancel it. So my husband and I planned some fun activities to do during our staycation instead including camping! We stayed at a quiet small campground that had a small pond with a hiking trail around it. Can you spot the frog in the first picture?  Here's his close up shot. This guy was the biggest frog we saw in the pond! He just chilled out and let me photograph him. I think he wanted me…

A Visit to the Arboretum

I recently discovered this beautiful arboretum after I started working at my library and I have become addicted to it since. It has so many beautiful flowers and trees and it's so peaceful. I could spend all day here, walking around and reading in the shade. My husband and I went in March during quarantine (don't worry we wore masks) and we got to see some beautiful daffodils and tulips.  Those daffodils and tulips were taken with my Google Pixel 3A phone. We then visited the arboretum later in June with my parents after I got the DSLR. I was more into…

Mom’s Garden

My mom is really into gardening. I didn't appreciate the gardens when I was younger, but now I sure do!My parents have a few different spaces on their property where they have gardens, but I happened to photograph the garden out by the front stoop where my mom keeps some herbs and flowers.  Really pretty hydrangeas line the whole front of the house. They are a mix of blues, pinks and purples. They're so vibrant in the spring and summer.  There's also a few lone marigolds in front of the hydrangeas. They bring the orange and yellow to the table.…

Bronx Zoo: The Gorillas

Let me tell you how much I love going to the Bronx Zoo. I love it so much I signed up for their membership! It basically pays for itself after two trips, it's so worth it. But anyway, I love to go there to see the animals and take pictures of them, especially the Bronx Zoo Gorillas. My favorite parts are where all the primates are, so of course the Gorillas, the Madagascar exhibit, Jungle World, and the Baboons in the Africa area. I always make sure to see those spots every time I go.  These first two images are some…

Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial day weekend this year was my husband and I's 10th Anniversary. We've been together a whole decade, crazy! So we had some low key celebrations. We plan on going out to dinner once the restaurants start to open back up. My husband got me a DSLR Camera as an anniversary gift so I can take some great pictures for my blog. He also knows I love photography. I love taking pictures of animals and nature as well as my food. So we got to play around with the new camera last weekend.  We took our new camera and we went…
