Super Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Chocolate chip cookies are a classic recipe that everyone should have on hand. I found this recipe on Pinch of Yum blog and I've never gone back. It's that good. I'm more of soft cookie person, rather than crunchy and these are super soft chocolate chip cookies. That feeling when you bite into a warm chocolate chip cookie fresh from the oven when the chips inside are still melty...heaven. Chocolate chip cookies are also one of the easiest recipes to make at home from scratch. I know everyone needs a quick fix once in a while, but why go out…

Ooey Gooey Cinnamon Buns

My brother and I have always had a weakness for cinnamon buns, especially the ooey gooey kind. My mom would buy the Pillsbury cinnamon buns in a can on weekends or special occasions and we would have them for breakfast. We would fight over who would get the last one, they were so good!  As we grew up, my mom realized my brother and I had food allergies so we had to find dairy free alternatives for everything we loved. We ate a ton of Immaculate Baking Cinnamon Buns after that which are dairy and soy free. It's a great…

Fancy Plaited Challah Bread

I 've always wanted to make bread and try my hand at yeasted bakes, so when they made Challah on the Great British Baking Show, I had to try it myself. I also plaited it like they did on the show. Let me tell you, I definitely felt accomplished after finishing this fancy plaited challah bread. I ended up using a video from the YouTube channel of one of the GBBO contestants, Mat Riley to do the braid because I definitely needed the visual element to do this braid. I’ve done braids before in my hair, and I’ve even done…

Garlic Buttered Naan

My husband and I love Indian food. We especially love naan bread when we eat out, so I decided to try and make some naan at home. I got the idea of course, from the Great British Baking Show, my endless source of inspiration. They had to make yeasted and non yeasted flatbreads. Naan is yeasted which I was unaware of until I tried to make it. We’re already addicted to it, so I’m sure I’ll be making more soon! I looked at several different Garlic Butter Naan recipes online and I decided on trying the naan recipe on Host…

Hidden Design Cake: Rainbow Cookie Heart

So I attempted to do a showstopper cake like they do on the Great British Baking Show. It was definitely a challenge for me! I decided on trying to make a hidden design cake which is the challenge for one of the episodes. I decided to try and make a chocolate cake with a hidden rainbow cookie heart design inside. There are plenty of things I would do differently next time, but I am definitely very happy with the rainbow heart I saw when I cut into the cake. All that work was worth it! I decided on this particular…

Apple Crumble Tart

This is not your typical Apple Pie recipe. Dare I say it, this apple crumble tart is even better than Apple Pie! Who doesn't love a crumble topping? The source of this brilliant recipe is the amazing John Whaite. He is the winner for Series 3 ("the beginnings" collection on Netflix) of the Great British Baking Show. During the COVID-19 Pandemic, John has been home quarantining and he's been posting new bakes on his Instagram stories practically everyday. I, of course, have been watching them all religiously. He gives great little tips during his baking demonstrations. I feel like I…

Cookie in a Cup (With Vegan Option)

I found this lifesaver of a recipe on Pinterest several years ago and have used it on the regular ever since! This easy cookie in a cup is just a handful of ingredients that you will most likely already have in your pantry!  There can be pros and cons to a single serving cookie though. Pro: the immediate satisfaction of a hot gooey chocolate chip cookie in under 10 minutes. Con: it's so easy you will make it all the time. I mean it. All. The. Time. It's that addicting!  This recipe couldn't be easier. On nights that I'm craving…

Orange Babas: Non-Alcoholic

This recipe was definitely a little messy, but really fun to make! Rum babas are a kind of hybrid between a bread and a cake. It requires yeast and rising before it's baked. The dough is super sticky, so it's a little hard to work with, but don't be tempted to add a ton of flour to make it easier. Adding more flour will make the babas too dry. I had scraper in one hand basically the whole time while I was kneading to help me peel the dough off the counter. I decided to try out my own version…

Classic Pineapple Upside Down Cake

So I wanted to bake an upside down cake this weekend, but I wanted to try something different. I had decided I would do David Lebovitz’s recipe for Plum Blueberry Upside Down Cake from his book Ready for Dessert: My Best Recipes… but after I had decided and went out to buy the ingredients, I couldn’t find any plums!  So on to plan B. I had to think of a recipe quick to replace the Plum Blueberry Cake because I needed a cake to bring to a party. My husband suggested the Pineapple Upside Down Cake my mother-in-law makes which…
