Living the VanLife: RV Tour

We did it! We are now full time digital nomads living the vanlife out of our 25ft Class C RV. Take a look at our new-to-us tiny home on wheels.

Before Renovating...

Here’s a pic of what our RV looked like before we ripped it apart and made it our own. Pretty different, right? Take a look at the whole renovation process in my previous post.

We bought the RV in December of 2022 and renovated it for the next six months. We got on the road to try out the vanlife in May of this year.

Welcome to Our RV Tour!

RV Tour: Living Area

First up is our main living area and the spot where we did the most remodeling and renovation… the living room!

Where we now have our couch used to be the dinette. We ripped it out and put a super comfy custom couch with fold out panels so we can put our feet up. It’s a multifunctional space that we use to chill, eat and work.

As you can see we have no shortage of pillows on our couch! Our big bay window behind the couch provides plenty of natural light so we don’t feel cooped up in the dark.

In the front over the seats in what used to be another bed, is now our storage area. Everything that doesn’t have a home elsewhere finds its way there. We keep our extra couch cushions, laundry, starlink, electronics, books and crafts up there.

We also have a curtain that we can put the front to separate the drivers area from the living area of the RV. Gotta maintain a little privacy while we are living that RV Life.

Across from the couch we have the cabinet we built. There used to be a chair here, but what would we need that for 🤷‍♀️. So we made a shoe cabinet! And I put a macrame plant hanger above the cabinet to hold all our fruit.

Our entryway has some homemade embroidery I did to welcome people in and I put ivy leaves all over the RV to add some green!

RV Tour: Kitchen

Our kitchen didn’t need that many changes. We added a new larger stovetop and replaced the microwave that was in here with our toaster oven. With some new tile and a fresh coat of paint, it looked good as new!

There is a useless little nook that I put some fake succulents in to accent the decor and I didn’t know what else to do there. We also put in the fold out counter for some very much needed extra counter space.

The big teak cutting board is homemade as well and can be fitted onto the stovetop or the sink. We got this tip on having the cutting fit into the stovetop from watching way too many vanlife videos.

In the first photo of this post you can see our refrigerator next to the couch. I put the same peel and stick tile we used as kitchen backsplash to cover the fridge. It came out quite nice and matches perfect!

We also put in a new faucet and a separate smaller faucet for our filtered drinking water.

RV Tour: Bedroom and Bathroom

The bathroom itself is just the toilet and shower. I put a pretty watercolor leaf wallpaper in there with a cute mermaid print I found on Instagram. The shower is actually where we keep our garbage bin because there isn’t room anywhere else!

Outside the door, is the bathroom vanity and sink. We didn’t change anything about it except some wallpaper and paint. It’s a wonder what they can do! I added the ivy leaves of course. We keep the soap and our toothbrush holder secure on the counter with museum wax so we don’t have to move them when drive.

The museum wax is another tip we found online from other RV Life and Vanlife couples.

Here is our bedroom or should I say our bed because that’s all there is! We got a new foam mattress (fiberglass free!) and cut it to fit the weirdly shaped size. We had to cut it skinnier and cut a corner off.

I put some cute faerie and mermaid prints from Renae Taylor that I bought from her on Etsy and at the New York Ren Faire last year.

The cabinets above the bed hold all our clothes.

Just a little comment about my bed not being made… this is about as made as it will ever get so I thought I would show the reality! Plus we’ve got queen sized blankets on a skinny RV size bed so it’s hard to make it look perfect.
