Hummus is very much a staple in my house. My husband and I eat it all the time. I’ll admit most of the time it’s store bought (that Trader Joe’s Spicy Hummus…YUM), but when I do make the time for this fresh easy hummus at home, it’s ridiculously better than hummus from the store.

With a taste that can’t compete with store bought hummus, your friends and family will love you forever if you bring this to your next backyard party or hangout.
Easy Hummus Ingredients
- Canned Chickpeas (Garbanzo Beans)
- Tahini
- Garlic
- Salt
- Lemon Juice
- Water (or aquafaba)
That’s all you need!

Directions
The only equipment you’ll need to make this recipe are a rubber spatula and a food processor. I have a mini food processor that also attaches to my immersion blender. It looks like this one.
As for directions, this is one of the simplest recipes you could ever make. First, put the garlic cloves in first and blitz them a few times. Then put the rest of the ingredients in and blend until they are fully combined.
Taste it to make sure the flavors are right, more garlic to your liking, more lemon for brightness, or more salt for overall flavor. It should be a thick creamy paste.

Hummus Add-Ins
As I’m sure you know, there are a million different variations on hummus out there. You can make classic roasted red pepper by adding chopped roasted red peppers to the top of this recipe or a spicy hummus by adding sriracha. The options are endless!
What Do I Eat My Hummus With?
Personally, I like to eat this hummus spread on a pita or flabread with chopped tomatoes on top. It’s delicious! But here’s some other options:
- Dip in pita and potato chips or chopped up veggies.
- Spread on toast with avocado for some extra protein.
- Spread on sandwiches.
- Make Hummus Quesadillas.
- Use to make salad dressing.
- Make this delicious Chickpea Shawarma Dip from my favorite food blogger Minimalist Baker.

You might also want to make some Guacamole to serve next to your Hummus.
